Lakeview Residence overlooks the lake and 18th fairway at MacGregor Downs in Cary, NC. The client approached Toma Farren after purchasing the original 1971 two story home with walk out basement. In love with the sloping site, the mature trees, and breathtaking view, they felt the existing home was too small and did not live up to the potential of the site.
Working primarily within the existing footprint of the house, we sought to sit naturally within the site while increasing views from the interior toward the lake. The singe shed roof and simple modern material palette fits within the natural mid-century modernist roots of the neighborhood.
Entering the house you are immediately met with sweeping views and the double height living room is accentuated by the slope of the site, giving the feeling of living amongst the trees.
Each of the 5 bedrooms includes ensuite bathrooms and walk-in closets. The lower level family room opens out to a covered patio including outdoor kitchen, fire pit, and plunge pool overlooking the lake.
